Lomovember.

So, it's good to be home. LA was pretty wild, I bought a shitload of records and took plenty of photos (I'll get around to posting some of the nifty ones soon enough).

In the meantime, here's one of the five shots I have in Lomovember, a Lomo show put on by the kids at Pigeonhole. It's on tomorrow night, should be rad.

Clothespeg.

This will be my last post for a couple of weeks, I'm headed to sunny LA tomorrow to shoot a TV ad. Anyhoo, here are a couple of photos I submitted for the third edition of Clothespeg (thanks Yolanda!), which is opening on Friday the 9th at Slaughterblouse. Wish I could be there, but Hollywood beckons.

Heirs @ The Rosemount.

A few months ago, Heirs came to town and play a couple of shows. I had a great time, got relatively drunk, and took a couple of shots too. (I finally found their 12" just earlier today, which may have reminded me to post these photos.) I've thrown in a couple snaps of Eleventh He Reaches London from the same show.

Diana Mini.

Last week my brand spankin' new Diana Mini arrived in the mail, and these are the first shots from it. To be honest, I wasn't so impressed with what I got back - most of the shots were blown out and blurry. Maybe it's because of the slow shutter speed, maybe it's because I was shooting on overcast days. But anyway, I'll play around with it some more. I'm sure I'll find a good use for it.

A few weeks ago some ol' school friends and I packed our tents, sleeping bags and plenty of beer as we headed to Lancelin for a night. There was also lots of fire and explosions. Y'know, guy shit.

Here are a couple more shots from my last redscaled role. In each of these, at least one of the images was a long exposure.

Power stations.

I recently headed out with my good pal ED and took some long exposures. I hadn't tried it on the LCA before, so I thought, heck, why not experiment some more, and once the roll was finished I took some redscale shots over the top. (For some reason the second shot was immune to the double exposure).   

These two are from the abandoned East Perth power station. I'll probably head there again soon and spend more time lurking in the shadows with my camera.

A Leederville housewarming.

Not long ago, my pal Wade invited us all around to see his new place. That, and to consume a whole bunch of beer. I'm still getting used to using my flash on the LCA, and these shots were pretty blown out. I pulled them as much as my scanner could tolerate, but I think they still turned out ok. And no one was asked to pose in the second photo, I promise.

Birthdays and new cameras.

It was my birthday last week, and for some reason everyone guesses my age to be way older than what it is. Maybe it's the beard, but I like to think it's because I am wiser beyond my years. 

Anyhoo, my good lady friend put her amazing gift-buying skills into action and found me a Fuji Instax camera. Neato! These are the first shots from it, and now I'm just hanging out for some sunny weather to take some nifty snaps.

There's an old monastery on Vincent Street that looks so full of doom and gloom it's downright enchanting. I took this a week or so ago, and I spose it looks ok (I put that down to the neat light leaks). Chances are I will try again sometime and make it look as epic as it does on a still dark night.

Eleventh He Reaches London.

Just before their new album came out a few months ago (which is great by the way), I was lucky enough to take a handful of shots of Eleventh He Reaches London. They wanted something that looked a little aged, so I loaded up some Lucky and took a shitload of bad photos. But hey, I learned a lot, and managed to bag a couple ok ones. I don't know if they'll ever use these, but I dig 'em.

Last weekend I woke up with a slight hangover, and had an inkling to shoot some signs. So I loaded up the Holga, popped into Freshies for an OJ, then started walking down Walcott Street. 

I had taken zero photos by the time I reached the end of the street, and after about an hour of travel time, decided it was time to go back to bed and watch an episode of Metalocalypse. Just so happens I bumped into these on my way home. 

Verity, you're an enigma.

At times I dream of the sailing life. Just think of the adventures and tall tales you could spin.

My good friend Owenmaster and I went on a couple of adventures last year, hunting for something neat to photograph. I'm hanging out to do it again.

I took these on the way home from work one night, with a belly full of cheap wine if I remember correctly.

We were on our way back from summer holidays when I saw this building and had to make my good lady friend pull over. We didn't get any ice cream, but I put that down to us both being Twin-Pole people.

During summer when I was walking to work super early, I would always pass this old dude, sitting out the front of City Fresh, waiting for it to open. I was lucky enough to get this snap on the sly, taken on grainy-as-heck Ilford 3200.

At first I was annoyed that this XXL dude walked in front of the shot, but now I've scanned it in, I kinda like it. Makes me think he's headed to his secret stash house. And who knows what's in there. Drugs? Bodies? Burgers maybe?

Before heading out to an advertising industry function a few weeks ago, my good lady friend behaved quite out of character and demanded I take a photo. Good thing I did. This was taken on my recently-purchased-from-a-Melbourne-op-shop 1956 Yashica LM twin lens.

Oh, Fremantle.

One Saturday I caught the train to the end of line, and walked around for about three hours. It was the first time I used a roll of Lomo XPRO film, and was kinda surpised at how the shots turned out; they were pretty different to the Velvias and Provias I usually use.

It was a brutal early morning flight, but things were a little easier thanks to an episode of Masters of Horror on my iPod.

A weekend in Meredith.

I recently visited Melbourne (again), this time armed with a sleeping bag and foam mattress, for Golden Plains at Meredith. The air was cold and the sleep was rough, but thanks to plenty of Melbourne Bitter, we went ok. They also had a pretty sweet ferris wheel.

Last week my good lady friend and I boarded a plane and got the hell out of Perth to spend a few days in Melbourne. Despite the midnight flight over (never again), it was fucking rad. Topped off by a Cult of Luna show, no less.

Moon times.

When my LCA arrived in the mail I loaded up a roll of Rollei Retro and headed to The Moon for a burger and a Cooper's Pale. It's how most evenings should be spent.

It didn't matter that there were no waves. We got by just fine.

In bed by 10pm on New Year's Eve.

Just after Christmas I went down to sleepy Gracetown to hang out with the Crimps. It was my goal to experience this thing called 'relaxation'. I lost track of what day it was, so I figure I came close. Best holiday.

So, I've got these photos, right? They've been around for a while and they keep building up, so I thought I'd better do something with them.

They're all taken on a Holga or an LCA+, so they're kinda lo-fi. Some are ok, some are average. Whatevs man, just have a look-see.

The first couple here are from December '08, shot on the best beer-drinking porch in Highgate with a roll of black and white Lucky.
